Weekly Wrap-Up: Nothing Gold Can Stay…And That’s Okay

In last week’s wrap-up post, I wrote these lines:
We all see the same sun
Rise and set
Around the world each day
Starts life anew
Nothing gold can stay.

It ties into the quote here as well, giving insight into how truly precious the moments we have are. We should continue to be appreciative of what we have, so we never lose sight, or take it for granted.

I was inspired to write the short little bit above after reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. In the book, they mention a poem by Robert Frost (who I also mentioned last week) entitled, Nothing Gold Can Stay.

Also, a character in the book named Johny wrote this about the poem:
I’ve been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it, he meant you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day.

This was one of my favorite moments because even though it was contiguous with (kind of spoiler) some of the most dismal events, the letter summarized all of their struggles and really related to me. It showed there was hope and goodness in our world, something we should remember at times when it feels like the opposite.

Favorite pins of this week…

A last look at idyllic, halcyon days of summer before the first bite and chill of winter frost.

Romantic and dreamy, this picture reminds me of a sunlight forest where anything could happen.

I love this picture and the softness of it.

Nature is vibrant, pure, and strong. All traits I aspire to.

Playing with shadows and flowing, fluid textures.

A quintessential, cozy image for fall. I can imagine curling up with A Wrinkle In Time, sipping on hot cocoa (with marshmallows, naturally).

-Dream & Scheme

Lights that twinkle against the stillness of night.

Also, this week I started my Gift Guide series! Check out what to get for the fashion-obsessed and the techie.

Stay gold.
