Q&A with Lucy Stevens of OV Naturals

Recently, I had the chance to interview Lucy Stevens, the founder of OV Naturals and a trained aromatherapist.

She has been working with aromatherapy for nine years and definitely has an impressive list of qualifications.

1. What sparked your interest in natural skincare and aromatherapy?

It was really one of those light-bulb moments – I’d experienced some really positive benefits from having massage with essential oils & I thought, “What are these essential oils? What’s happening here?” From there I decided to study & set up my own practice.

2. What are some of your favourite ingredients to use and why?

I love frankincense for massage – it’s so calming; for skincare rose is wonderful. Not all essential oils smell beautiful – many are pungent & work well in a blend but not so much in a therapy clinic. As with everything, it’s all in the dose.

3. What are some of your biggest beauty tips for clearer skin?

We all know the triggers for problems with skin – genes, hormones, nutrition, stress, sun exposure etc.

So, drink plenty of fluids & avoid refined sugar, use sun protection, minimise stress, use good quality skincare products & cleanse your skin before sleep.

Then if you want to invest more time in your skin, educate yourself about nutrition. You’ll be amazed what a difference it can make.

4. What is one of your favourite quotes?

“A good laugh & a long sleep is the best cure in the doctor’s book.” Irish proverb.

5. What is your favourite part about your job?

Getting to know my clients & being able to make a difference. When someone arrives for a treatment weighed down by life, then leaves with a spring in their step, it is just a lovely feeling.
